Congregational Care at FUMC Gainesville facilitates wholeness of body, mind, spirit, and relationships of all persons committed to our care. Listed below are some of the ways we care for one another at First Church. Contact Gwen Grove at 665-4317 for more information.
Hospital Visitation
A visiting ministry of clergy and laity to persons and their families who are ill and hospitalized.
Bereavement Care
Volunteer teams that offer meal or reception provisions for our families at the time of funerals or memorial services.
Homebound and Nursing Home Visitation
A ministry of lay persons who visit, call and take communion to members regularly who have limited mobility or are confined to area nursing facilities.
Abigail's Arms, formerly Friends of the Family
A community based organization which provides services and shelter to families who find themselves in abusive or unhealthy relationships. We at First Methodist donate time, money, and toiletry items for those who are in need of this worthy organization’s services.
Stephen Ministries
A ministry which has trained laypersons in over 9,000 local churches to provide one-on-one caring to hurting people in and around their congregations since 1975. As our congregation grows, Stephen Ministries could help multiply our caring ministries. Please contact Pastor Don for more information.
